A tough year for Jumbo — let’s make 2018 better

Until the end of the year, a generous donor has stepped up to match your donations (up to $5000). So donate today and your donation of $100 becomes $200!

“How we treat our land, how we build upon it, how we act toward our air and water, in the long run, will tell what kind of people we really are.”
Laurance S. Rockefeller

I’m not going to lie: it’s been a tough year for Jumbo.

But the thing is, this year has only strengthened our resolve, put more fuel on our fire. Far from discouraging us, the challenges of this past year have inspired us to keep working together for what really matters.

You and I both know it deep in our gut: the Jumbo Valley Resort should never be built. And I’m not going to stop fighting because of a few setbacks; I’m going to keep fighting until the Jumbo Valley and the surrounding Central Purcell Mountains are permanently protected. And I know you’ll stand with me.

Because, despite the challenges, there are also exciting things afoot. Here in British Columbia, we finally have a new government, one that says they are serious about reconciliation and environmental protection, one that is ready to sit at the table and work towards creating a more just world. Now is our moment to come together for permanent protection of the Jumbo Valley.

From the very beginning, this fight has always been about community. People coming together from around the Kootenays, other parts of Canada, the US and across the world. People who live in cities, in mountains towns and wild valleys. What has brought us together and continues to motivate us is our love for the wild, our belief that wild places need to be kept wild.

Will you join me in fighting for the Jumbo Valley? For a sacred and spectacular place that deserves protection? It cannot speak for itself, and so it’s up to us.

Please donate today and help make sure the Jumbo Valley and the incredible Central Purcell Mountains that surround it are permanently protected. Let’s raise our voices together, so that we can’t be ignored. Let’s make sure the words Jumbo Glacier Resort are forever consigned to the dustbin of history.

Let’s do this for the future of our planet, for our grandkids, for the grizzly bears and for justice.

Thank you for your continued support and generosity. We couldn’t have kept up this fight for the last 26 years without you.

Keep it wild,

Robyn Duncan
